Self esteem affirmations are one of the easiest ways to start boosting your self esteem. An affirmation is simply a statement asserting the existence or the truth of something. These statements can cover a wide range of topics both negative and positive.

Unfortunately, many people think of these as a magic spell, instead of a tool that you should be using daily. Repetition alone can not change anything. You won't lose weight this way and you won't boost your esteem either. Self esteem self help is more that reciting words in front of a mirror.

You already use affirmations in your daily life, but usually negative ones. "I hate exercise." "I'm not good at speaking in front of people." Statements that are thought and spoke over and over quickly become core beliefs.

Self esteem affirmations are simply going to be a way to break negative thoughts and replace them with thoughts and beliefs that are more productive for you.

Emile Coue and Napoleon Hill are some of the earlier men that practiced self esteem affirmations with the knowledge that positive thinking strongly influenced a life.

You must be in a state of mind that you believe what you think, or recite, for the affirmations to work. Usually first thing after waking would be a good time, or find a quiet place, settle your mind, and focus your thought on these positive statements. You must feel these statements for there to be a change. Emotion must be present in order for the affirmation to have something to ground itself on.

Self esteem is the value you hold of yourself, so these statements are aimed at increasing your self-worth.

If you are having trouble expressing these self esteem affirmations with belief, then continue working on them daily. In time you will notice a shift towards a more positive esteem, but the key is daily practice. Daily practice with emotion is the best way for self esteem self help to work.
