The symptoms of anxiety attacks are both physical and emotional. Fear, panic, racing heart, dry mouth, can all be present for no apparent reason. The anxiety attack will not harm you! You are not in danger from the attack itself.

Many people struggle with general anxiety disorder or GAD for years. A person has irrational worry about everyday situations continually. Again, for a person living with this daily struggle, working and building on their self esteem is not, nor can be a priority until the anxiety issue is taken care of.

When a person is experiencing an attack there is no place that feels safe. Then they begin to avoid any situation that may make them anxious. These experiences can leave a lasting effect on a person, causing them to then live in fear of the attacks themselves. Once this happens a vicious cycle is begun, leaving them will little incentive to seek out the treatments for anxiety disorder.

Living in fear can cause a person to also feel like they have failed, thus lowering their esteem. If you struggle with panic attacks and you are looking for treatments then don't give up. Keep fighting for the life that you deserve! No one should live in fear.

Find something to distract your self with. Anything. Music-dance, make your grocery list, plan your weekly menu, or recite your favorite literature passage. Just distract yourself. This just might be the right technique for you!
